Rating: - The BEST edutainment software ever
This is by far the best in education & adventure. My kids and I played endlessly for years. It encourages interaction with residents and visitors to the Amazon River Basin both in current (1990's) time and historical figures. (E.g., keep you eyes peeled for TR.)
It's a pity this particular software was never upgraded. My guess is that it had to do with multiple owners who paid too much for each of the companies that owned AT3 in succession. It would be wonderful if AT3's current ... Read More
Rating: - GREAT Kid's Game
This was one of my favorite games as a kid! I cannot tell you how many times I played, and replayed, and replayed again. Rating: - Fun, but buggy
i'm not sure if it was just me or what, but all three computers i have tried it on, it didn't work very well. it crashed constantly. i got around it by saving my game a lot, but it was still annoying. if you look beyond the crashing, it is pretty fun, but it also installed without sound. given the fact that it is so cheap, i think it would be worth while for you to try it, but beware the potential bugs.

I was excited to play this game with my children. We love the Oregon Trail, we can strategize, hunt, fish, gather, pick our party, shop for supplies, change our course, view our course and have continuous updates on progress, health, etc. We can quickly jump around to check all of the above. The graphics are great, and the program always manages to surprise. In short, the Amazon Trail possesses none of these qualities. It is slow, boring, and somewhat confusing. As my daughter puts it - "You are always ... Read More
