This is a unique game in its kind. It is much more fun than shooting space ships in the open space and than being attached to the ground with a human-like being.
When I got the game -the version sold here- I was a little worried to find out it wouldn't work in XP. And the first time I run it, it didn't. Multiplayer or Single player, it's a matter of taste... Either way, Descent still lives! (personaly I like both) PXO is no more, but people still play online every day.
Descent 3: Retribution consists of 15 huge levels... 7 in Mecenary. (Plus multiplayer maps) The levels are a work of art and the music is awsome. I've been reading these reviews of Descent 3 and I'm shocked that most of the posts have been about the singleplayer.
If you're looking for a singleplayer game, look somewhere else. The Descent 3 singleplayer is boring. I never even finished the singleplayer of my favorite game of all time.
Multiplayer is what Descent 3 is all about. Forget Counterstrike. Forget Quake and Unreal. This game requires more skill than those games have in their pinky fingers.

A candidate for GAME OF THE YEAR OF 1999, Descent 3 is, by far, the best of the trilogy and three years later, still remains one of the best-looking and best-playing computer games that I've ever come across.

Rating:  - Pretty Good, but not everyone's type of game
I bought Descent 3 several Months ago. It has some good cutscenes, and a plot that's more than an excuse to frag. I enjoyed what I have played so far, but when you get stuck, (and you will), the game suddenly loses its interest. You need to be a good gamer to fully appreaciate this game, or at least willing to put some serious time and effort in.
